Generating valuable negative emissions from waste-to-energy.
In its 2021 Climate Change report, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) put forth a number of scenarios for the deployment of climate mitigation solutions that will be needed to keep global temperature rise within 1.5°C relative to pre-industrial levels (IPCC, 2021).
Future trajectories of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions will depend on the choice, scale and impact of solutions deployment; however, one thing was made clear: a 1.5°C world will require large-scale deployment of negative emission technologies (NETs).
